Rumblings of a roster replacement coming down today.
It's starting to look like Connor Bedard will in fact be on Team Canada's roster at the 2026 Winter Olympics next week.
Team Canada, of course, replaced injured forward Anthony Cirelli with Sam Bennett earlier this week and there are reports today that the team will name Bedard in place of injured forward Brayden Point.
It's worth noting though that the team officially has until Wednesday to make any roster replacements but they are traveling to Italy on Saturday so it's expected that they will make the necessary roster changes before traveling together.
Today, Tampa Bay Lightning head coach and Team Canada coach Jon Cooper told media today that he can't make any announcements on Point because "that decision's being made today so I can’t answer that."
Stay tuned for official confirmation on Point's status.
All indications are that if Point is indeed out of the lineup, Bedard will replace him. Of course, that's not confirmed and only speculation so don't be surprised if one of Zach Hyman, Mark Scheifele or Steven Stamkos get the call up instead.
