It sounds like Eric Staal's career is over after Canada's Olympic elimination
The 37 year old Stanley Cup champion appears to be calling it quits.

With Team Canada bowing out of the Olympic semi-final round yesterday in their 2-0 loss to Team Sweden, there are questions about the future of Canada's captain Eric Staal.
Staal, of course, is a longtime NHL veteran and was hoping to use the 2022 Winter Games as a springboard to one more shot in the big leagues after failing to land a contract as a free agent this past offseason. Now, it sounds like Staal may be having other thoughts.
Multiple NHL insiders reported today that Staal is heavily considering retirement after a disappointing tournament for both himself and his home country and, honestly, I don't see him landing an NHL deal anyways.
I mean... does this sound like a man Jonesing to get back in the big leagues:
If this is indeed the end of the road for Staal, it's been one Hell of a career. A Stanley Cup championship, an Olympic gold medal and 441 goals and 1034 points in 1293 NHL games split between the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens.
