It sounds like Jessica Campbell is leaving the Kraken for an NHL head coaching job

UPDATE: The Kraken have now confirmed that Campbell is leaving the team at the end of her contract this offseason.

Honestly, I can't recall a team ever making an announcement like this concerning an assistant coach. Given that Campbell is the NHL's first female coach though, it makes sense that the Kraken would handle her situation a bit differently.

According to a report from ESPN insider Emily Kaplan, assistant coach Jessica Campbell is leaving the Seattle Kraken after receiving interest from other NHL clubs.

While Kaplan hasn't confirmed, it stands to reason that the interest Campbell is receiving would be for a promotion to the head coaching position.

The 33 year old Campbell became the first female coach behind a bench in the NHL when she joined the Kraken in 2024. Working under Dan Bylsma first and then Lane Lambert this past season, it appears that the Kraken and Campbell are both looking for a fresh start.

So... where could she end up?

Let's look at the teams who are speculated to make a head coaching change this offseason:

• Toronto Maple Leafs
• Vancouver Canucks
• Detroit Red Wings

Of course, that could change in the coming weeks but for now all eyes are on the Canucks.

The Canucks are a team at the beginning of a lengthy rebuild and Campbell has a history of helping to develop prospects.
