A terrifying moment in the NHL on Sunday night.

Jackson Blake is no doubt thanking every single one of his lucky stars tonight after the 22 year old Carolina Hurricanes forward likely had the scare of his life.

Blake and his Hurricanes faced off against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night, and it would be relatively late in that game's second period that Blake would come dangerously close to a very serious injury. Sharks star forward Macklin Celebrini found himself with a good scoring chance with just a little over 5 minutes left in the period with Blake behind the play but, rather than giving Celebrini a clear path to the Hurricanes net, Blake dove and sprawled out on the ice in an attempt to cut off Celebrini.

Blake was successful in the attempt but Celebrini would not be deterred, attempting to hop over Blake's outstretched arm and stick to keep his scoring chance alive. There was no malice in Celebrini's movements but unfortunately his skate would end up in a horrible position and bounced off of Blake's face in a horrifying moment on the ice.

In something of a miracle, Blake managed to walk away unharmed from the incident with his visor somehow managing to protect his face from the blade of the skate. It is hard to express just how lucky Blake got here with Celebrini's skate dragging across Blake's face and nearly lifting Blake's visor and helmet right off his head as a result of the sustained contact.

Here is a look at the replay:

Thank goodness no one was injured.
