Jake DeBrusk gets honest about future with Bruins

What exactly does the future hold for Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk? The Bruins have already gone through massive changes this offseason, losing the likes of Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Tyler Bertuzzi, Taylor Hall, Dmitri Orlov, and Nick Foligno. Could DeBrusk be next?
As you remember, he recently rescinded a trade request out of Boston and agreed to a contract extension, can become an unrestricted free agent next summer. And he's going to be on the radar of a handful of teams.
In DeBrusk's words, he's hoping to stay with the Bruins. But then again, that's what just about every pending free agent says.
"I'm hoping to stay [with the Boston Bruins]. It's the only team that I know and the team that I grew up with," DeBrusk said at the Perry Pearn 3 vs. 3 Hockey Camp on Tuesday. "Hopefully it goes in that direction, and we'll see how it goes. That's why I have an agent (Rick Valette), and I told him I wanted to stay out of this one and in time, it'll be nice when it all gets done."
"It's not my first time going through this. It's my third time my contract is up with them (he also signed a two-year, $7.35 million contract Nov. 23, 2020)," DeBrusk said. "I kind of know what to expect, although it's a little bit different with now being a UFA. I'm not too focused on that. I've kind of tested the waters before and I'm just going to focus on hockey."
DeBrusk, who missed a portion of last season after suffering an injury during the Winter Classic, scored 27 goals with 23 assists in 64 games played in 2022-23.
