Ottawa Senators defenseman Jakob Chychrun got a lot of attention on social media on Friday night after cameras spotted him leaving the ice during intermission. Instead of leaving the ice with his teammates, Chychrun was spotted leaving the ice with members of the Dallas Stars, prompting a number of wild theories about why he was doing so.
Unfortunately for those who let their imaginations run wild, the truth is actually pretty simple.
On Saturday, Chychrun himself took to social media to set the record straight about the admittedly strange looking situation. The Senators defenseman explained that he had been instructed to visit the Dallas Stars medical staff in order to repair damage done to his face during the course of the game.
Chychrun even shared a pair of photos to support his claim, including one of a pretty nasty looking gash under his right eye.
