Jakub Vrana is finally out of Detroit. The St. Louis Blues have acquired the forward from the Red Wings or Dylan McLaughlin and 2025 7th Round Pick.

The transaction was later confirmed by Detroit.

Vrana has put just one goal and two points in five games this season with the Red Wings. He spent time away from the team earlier this season in the NHL/NHLPA Players' Assistance Program. He was sent on a stint at the AHL level with the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he has six goals and 11 points.

He topped the 20-goal mark in back-to-back years with the Washington Capitals in 2019 and 2020 and could benefit from this change of scenery in St. Louis to get back to success.

Vrana is signed through next season at a cap hit of $5.25 million. The Red Wings are reportedly retaining  half of Vrana’s $5.250 salary.

More to come.
