Jamie Benn comes clean about his plans for his future in the National Hockey League.

The Dallas Stars were eliminated from playoff contention last week when the Edmonton Oilers advanced in the Western Conference Final after just 5 games, forcing the Stars to once again go back to the drawing board. While the Stars have experienced tremendous success in recent years their seasons have also proven to be a source of frustration with 3 trips to the Western Conference Final producing the same result every single time.

It is for that reason that there have been a ton of questions about what will happen to this roster during the offseason, with the Stars likely feeling that some changes will be required in order to get them over the hump. One of the biggest questions stemming from that has surrounded the future of long time Stars captain Jamie Benn, who was playing out the final year of his contract this season.

Benn, who carried a massive cap hit of $9.5 million this season, is no longer the player he once was when he signed that deal and there have been very legitimate questions about what could come next for Benn moving forward. On Saturday, Benn himself addressed those questions and was very honest about how he sees the future unfolding for hm.

"I'm gonna go into the summer planning on playing next year," admitted Benn. "Prepare like I do every summer."

Benn is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer and admitted he's actually excited about the prospect.

"I don't know it will be interesting, I'm looking forward to it to be honest," said Benn.

That being said Benn also made it clear that he has no interest in going anywhere else other than Dallas, making it clear that it would be his choice to remain with the only team he has ever known.

"I don't see myself going anywhere else, this is all I know, so hopefully we can get something figured out and then I don't have to answer these questions," said Benn eliciting a laugh from the reporters in attendance.

Benn will likely have to take a massive pay cut if he wishes to remain with the Stars but that could also prove very beneficial to the team as well. Benn at a massive discount would free up millions in cap space for the Stars to potentially plug holes in their lineup in free agency.

It seems like there's a strong chance a deal gets done here, given that everyone involved seems to be genuinely interested in making that a reality.
