Jared Bednar calls out Charlie McAvoy over dirty play.
The Avalanche head coach is not happy.
On Saturday, a severely depleted Colorado Avalanche roster took a thrashing at the hands of the Boston Bruins on the Bruins' home ice at TD Garden arena, losing by a score of 5-1. Perhaps worse than the loss however was the fact that the Avalanche walked away from that game with yet another significant injury to their lineup when forward Artturi Lehkonen went down.
Lehkonen was injured when he was driven to the ice by Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who appeared to hook Lehkonen by the arm and drag him down to the ice in front of the Bruins' net. The play didn't look like much, but it was apparently enough to knock Lehkonen out of the lineup.
On Monday, when asked if he thought the play was dirty, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar answered in the affirmative.
"Yes," said Bednar.
When asked if he felt the takedown or the fact that it occurred after the whistle was dirty, Bednar again responded with few words.
"Both," said the Avs bench boss.
When you add the news today that Jean-Luc Foudy has also been injured, that leaves the Avalanche with a ridiculous total of 10 injured players out of their lineup.
