Earlier this week USA Hockey announced the roster that would represent the United States of America at the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Milan, Italy, with the announcement resulting in a great deal of controversy regarding one of the names omitted from the list.

Notably absent from the list was Dallas Stars star forward Jason Robertson, a decision that has led some to question the motives of those building the team. Robertson is having another fantastic season with the Stars and already has 24 goals and 24 assists for 48 points this season despite only appearing in 41 games so far. Those 48 points are the most among American born players in the NHL so far this season which made Robertson's exclusion all that much more shocking.

On Saturday, Robertson spoke to reporters about being left off the roster and made it clear he did not agree with the decision.

"I thought that this year was different from last year, "said Robertson. "Obviously last year I didn’t think I was good enough. Now I think I did and it’s their choice, their decision. It hurts your ego, but I’m not going to change the way I play."

Although Robertson stopped short of calling out Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin, the man in charge of building Team USA's roster for the upcoming Olympic Games, he does make it clear that he feels he has played well enough to earn a spot on the roster.

Do you agree with Robertson? Is Team USA making a mistake by leaving him at home? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
