It only took one punch to wake up the building. With the Vegas Golden Knights trailing by three, Jeremy Lauzon delivered exactly what his team needed, at least in the moment. After Lawson Crouse dropped the gloves in response to a heavy hit on his teammate Nick Schmaltz that sent him over the boards, Lauzon answered in emphatic fashion after Crouse landed a couple of shots.

A single, clean right hand. That’s all it took.

Lauzon connected flush, dropping Crouse instantly and sending the Vegas bench into a frenzy. The crowd erupted as he stood tall, urging for even more noise while heading off the ice late in the second period. It was the kind of moment meant to shift momentum, to drag a team back into the fight, literally and figuratively.

And for a brief second, it felt like it might.

But despite the surge of energy, the spark didn’t translate to the scoreboard. The Utah Mammoth held firm, ultimately shutting out Vegas 4-0.

Still, Lauzon’s moment stood out in an otherwise quiet night: a reminder that sometimes, one punch can change the entire mood, even if it doesn’t change the final result of the game.
