A goalie fight during Sunday's outdoor game!
If you missed Sunday's Stadium Series game between the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning, well I'm sorry. The two teams put on one hell of a show during the National Hockey League's special outdoor event with a back and forth game that had a little of everything.
The moment everyone will be talking about on Sunday night however occurred during the game's second period when, roughly midway through the frame, all hell suddenly broke loose. The fans in attendance and watching at home were treated to a very rare goalie fight, with both Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman and Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy dropping the gloves and going toe to toe with one another.
Things got off to an awkward start with Swayman getting a stick caught in his pads on the way up the ice, but he would eventually free himself and both goalies would remove their goalie masks as they prepared to go to war.
It was an incredibly exciting moment that cause the fans in attendance to explode and the two goalies did not disappoint. Despite wearing heavy equipment that makes throwing punches rather challenging, both men were throwing heavy shots with some ill intent behind them.
It looked like Vasilevskiy got the better of Swayman in this one with the Lightning goaltender hammering Swayman with shots until the officials on the ice stepped in to seperate them.
