Jeremy Swayman is hot after a blowout Game 4.
The Boston Bruins entered Game 4 on Sunday with a chance to tie up their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Buffalo Sabres at two games a piece, but you would be forgiven for thinking the Bruins had no interest in doing so if you tuned in to today's game.
The Bruins put forward what can only be described as an embarrassing effort, giving up 6 consecutive goals, 9 if you count Game 3, to the Sabres in an effort so poor that it even provoked a fiery response from Bruins starting goaltender Jeremy Swayman.
Swayman finished the game with what looked like an ugly performance but he was largely hung out to dry by a team that put on an uninspired performance in front of him. Swayman would stop 23 of the 29 shots he faced for a .793 save percentage and when he was finally, and mercifully, pulled by Bruins head coach Marco Sturm in the third period, Swayman exploded.
While there's no way of truly knowing what Swayman may have said to his fellow Bruins on the bench, his body language spoke volumes. Swayman was very clearly yelling at his teammates in an aggressive manner, and it's hard to blame Swayman for his anger given the circumstances.
