Jets coach Rick Bowness leaves team under tragic circumstances.
Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness is stepping away from his team under tragic circumstances.
I have some very sad news to share on Monday morning.
According to a report from the Associated Press' Stephen Whyno, Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness will be stepping away from his duties as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets following a family tragedy. According to Whyno, Bowness' wife Judy has been hospitalized after suffering a seizure and is currently undergoing further tests in hospital.
Under these circumstances no one can blame Bowness for stepping away to be with his wife, and I can only hope that Judy will make a full and speedy recovery.
At this time Bowness' leave of absence is believed to be a temporary one and Winnipeg Jets associate coach Scott Arniel will step in to serve as interim coach during Bowness' absence.
My thoughts go out to the Bowness family in this difficult time.
