Jets furious with NHL officials after controversial call in overtime.

The Winnipeg Jets are not very happy with the National Hockey League right now. but although they have let their displeasure be known they also are not saying much right now due to the fear of potentially being slapped with some fines by the league.

On Saturday the Jets faced off against the Minnesota Wild in what was a hotly contested game between the two teams, one that could not be decided after just 60 minutes of regulation play. This meant that both teams would be headed to a sudden death overtime period where they would attempt to determine a winner, but unfortunately this sudden death overtime was marred by controversy. It was Minnesota Wild star forward Zach Parise who was at the center of the controversy this time although it was through no fault of his own.

The final and deciding goal game off the back of a controversial goaltender interference ruling, one that left Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice fuming. Maurice cut short his press conference after the game, making it clear to reporters that he was very angry with the call at the end of the game but was effectively being blocked from saying so due to the threat of a fine from the league.

"Sorry guys, anything else I say might be costly," said Maurice. "I'm not giving them any money, not one dime"

It sounds like the Jets' players were on the same page as Maurice here although they had even less to say. According to a report from Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg News, he suspects the motivations for their silence were the same as t he motivations for Maurice.

"To give you a sense of the anger here in the Winnipeg Jets room over the officiating, several players are declining to talk, presumably because anything they said would likely end in a fine," said McIntyre.

The controversy stems from this play in which Parise is clearly pushed into Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Although there is clear interference the officials ruled it was caused by the Jets, however many feel that Parise continued to push Hellebuyck out of the way far longer than the shove he received would have justified.
