An unfortunate development for both sides.

The Winnipeg Jets have unfortunately, and officially, ended their relationship with forward Thomas Raffl, who once looked like a promising signing for Winnipeg.

Despite being 30 years of age, Raffl was in many ways a prospect after impressing during a camp tryout prior to last season and earning himself a one year deal with the Jets. Unfortunately for both parties. Raffl never made it to the NHL due in large part to a series of unfortunate injuries, including an errant puck in practice resulting in a broken jaw.

The parting of ways was made official today when Mike Halford of NBC Sports reported that Raffl had made the decision to head back to the Austrian league and has in fact signed with his former team Red Bull Salzburg.

Both parties will be left wondering what could have been had multiple injuries not devastated Raffl's time with the team.
