Jets sort out their goaltending logjam, place a goalie on waivers
Hellebuyck will be the #1, but who's #2 in Winnipeg?
The Winnipeg Jets have waived goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen, the Edmonton Oilers have waived forward Raphael Lavoie and the Washington Capitals have waived forward Spencer Smallman.
From NHL insider Elliotte Friedman:
Kahkonen's placement on waivers all but guarantees that the Jets will rock a combo of Connor Hellebuyck and Eric Comrie.
Lavoie was waived by the Oilers earlier this week and then claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights. The Knights then waived Lavoie and he was reclaimed by the Oilers. Well, he's back on waivers today and the Golden Knights have the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time...
Interestingly enough, if the Golden Knights (or any other team, for that matter) are the only team to make a claim on Lavoie today then he'll be waiver exempt and eligible for assignment to the AHL without needing to clear waivers.
Your move, Vegas...
