Jim Hiller and Rob Blake learn their fate on Saturday.

Fans have been calling for changes after another collapse in the first round against the Oilers.

It's a little crazy to think about how one single playoff series can drastically change the perception around a team, and perhaps no one learned this better this season than the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings, head coach Jim Hiller and general manager Rob Blake were all praised this season for the work they did in helping the Kings earn the second best record in the National Hockey League's Pacific Division, but after suffering yet another first round playoff exit at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers much of that narrative has changed.

Many fans have called for Hiller to be fired for his performance in the playoffs with most pointing to a failed coach's challenge in Game 3 of that very same series as the primary reason for getting rid of Hiller. There's no question that it was a very bad challenge at a terrible time, one that may very well have turned the tide of the series.

Unfortunately fans hoping for drastic changes are going to be left sorely disappointed, as a report from Los Angeles Kings insider John Hoven has all but confirmed that Hiller and Blake will both be back next season.

From Hoven:

From everything we’ve been able to gather over the past 24 hours, it appears Blake and Hiller will remain in place for the 2025-26 season. While nothing is official — and it seems the entire organization is taking the weekend to decompress a bit after what just happened — these are the indications we’ve been getting through multiple sources.

Hiller did lead the Kings to an impressive record during the regular season, accumulating 105 points with a record of 48 wins, 25 regulation losses and 9 overtime losses, and it may very well be his success during the regular season that has earned him another season behind the bench.

Do you agree with this decision? Should the Kings move on from either Hiller or Blake? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
