Forward Jimmy Vesey spent the first three seasons of his career as a member of the New York Rangers before moving around the league in recent years.

Now, he is back in New York.

It has been confirmed by Cap Friendly that Vesey signed a professional tryout contract with the Rangers on Friday.

Earlier in August, Larry Brooks of the New York Post had reported that the unrestricted free agent was expected to sign with the Rangers - suggesting the contract should check in at or around the league minimum of $750K, making it a low-risk proposition - though this might be a different contract fans had in mind for the forward.

In New York, Vesey quickly became a depth scorer, recording 50 goals and 40 assists in 240 games over three seasons.
But it got hard for the 29-year-old when he bounced around the league playing for four different teams – the Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and New Jersey. Last season with the Devils, Vesey put up eight goals and seven assists in 68 games while averaging 14:25 per night.

Let’s see now if Vesey can secure a spot at the end of their roster, giving the Rangers low-cost depth for the season.
