Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams may not want to, but he may not also have the choice to pull the trigger on a trade. That’s because Frank Seravalli believes that young forward JJ Peterka wants out of the organization with a change of scenery in order for the 23-year-old.

“Multiple teams put together significant offers for Peterka in the days leading up to the March deadline, but Buffalo was not biting then. They may have less choice now with a potential offer sheet waiting on the other end of July 1,” writes Seravalli.

There are also reports out of Buffalo that Peterka is displeased with the team’s lack of progress and would prefer test the free agent market this summer.

Peterka isn’t the first player to voice his displeasure with the Sabres and their management, especially now that several weeks have gone by and no changes have been made internally or behind the bench in Buffalo. Recent rumours have hinted at defenseman Bowen Byram complaining about what’s going on in the organization and looking to be traded.
And now, Peterka appears to be seeking a fresh start elsewhere.

He could certainly become available via trade unless negotiations take a pivot and he re-signs in Buffalo.
Several suitors are expected to follow this closely as Peterka recorded 27 goals and 68 points tied for second on his team, in 77 games this past season.

With his shot, he has always created space for him to get it to the net and teams would love to add that to their respective roster.

While Peterka could end up changing addresses this summer, the Sabres need to realize that significant changes need to be made within the organization to make sure they can hold on to their talented young players.
