Joe Veleno makes his next move

The former Round 1 draft pick is up for a new deal.

While the Detroit Red Wings were able to re-sign pending free agent forward Patrick Kane, another forward that they have yet to officially decide future plans upon is restricted free agent Joe Veleno.

Veleno, who scored 12 goals and 18 assists for the Red Wings last season but also failed to take advantage of a massive opportunity in the top-six when captain Dylan Larkin went down with injury in March, filed for salary arbitration after having made just over $800K on a one-year deal for 2023-24.

His 28 points were a new career high after having only scored 20 points the previous season.
