Joe Veleno finally picks up his 1st NHL fighting major!

Among the highlights that took place yesterday afternoon at Little Caesars Arena that included three quick strikes by the host Detroit Red Wings over the visiting Buffalo Sabres was a career first for forward Joe Veleno, a 2018 Round 1 Draft selection.
He took matters into his own hands when the on-ice officials refused to call Sabres defenseman Bowan Byram, who was recently acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in the Casey Middlestadt trade, and quickly challenged the defenseman to a fight.
Veleno landed several blows to the back of Byram's head before they were eventually separated by the linesman, meaning that he was heading to the penalty box for a five-minute major for the 1st time in his career.
There's a first time for everything!
