John Tavares gets in fight for the first time in 10 years!

That was his breaking point.

The Toronto Maple Leafs wanted to prove that they could make it work without goalie Frederik Andersen, but fell do so and fell to the New York Rangers, 5-3 on Wednesday night. That's probably why they proceeded to a late night trade to acquire Jack Campbell and Kyle Clifford from the Los Angeles Kings...

The Leafs were frustrated and that includes captain John Tavares, who was trying everything he could in the third period to send the game in overtime.

When he was pushed over near the Rangers’ net by Ryan Lindgren, Tavares got up and wanted payback. He started pushing and shoving the blue liner, who didn’t appreciate the captain’s anger and both players went for it.

The officials were trying to keep things under control as the end of the game drew closer and quickly jumped on them to break them apart.

According to Hockey Fights, Tavares has only one hockey fight to his record, which took place back in December 2010 when he was with the New York Islanders. He had dropped the gloves with Alex Burmistrov of the Atlanta Thrashers.

Another era!

But do we get a new Tavares now that this has taken place?
