Last week, the Philadelphia Flyers hired John Tortorella to be their head coach. While this is the Flyers’ latest move, this might be Torts’ last…

On Tuesday, the new head coach in Philly announced that this will be his last coaching job.

The Flyers and Tortorella agreed to a four-year contract and that would mean that the bench boss would call it quits in 2026, though it remains to be seen if his arrival in Philadelphia is a good fit.

While he is the second-winningest American head coach in NHL history and a two-time Jack Adams Award winner, he is especially known for his fiery attitude who can rub players and team management the wrong way. He also got into it several times with reporters when he was the bench boss of the New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks and Columbus Blue Jackets.

He is known to have tough relationships with his players - it was quickly reminded to the Flyers’ roster when Torts was hired. Former Ranger and Blue Jacket Brandon Dubinsky tweeted a brutal remark about his former coach, praying for the players in Philadelphia who will be coached by Tortorella.

Former winger Matthew Barnaby also sounded off after the Tortorella announcement, profanely stating on his social account that he would have hired at least six head coaches before signing Torts to a deal.

While this sounds like it will be Tortorella’s last job, we are pretty sure he’ll make it a memorable one.
