Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau’s father makes heartbreaking confession ahead of anniversary

The loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau in the summer of 2024 sent shockwaves through the hockey world and beyond. Nearly two years later, the pain for their father has not subsided.

Guy Gaudreau has told TMZ that he has not forgiven Sean Higgins, the man charged with aggravated manslaughter after allegedly driving his Jeep into the brothers while they were riding bicycles in New Jersey. Guy also shared that he has not forgiven God for the loss of his sons.

"Everyone's life goes on but mine. I will never get my sons back," Guy said.

He added that he does not know if he will ever be able to extend forgiveness to Higgins.

I mean... you can't blame him.

With the two-year anniversary of the tragedy approaching at the end of August, Guy said he does not yet have specific plans for how he and his family will mark the day.

However, Guy and his wife, Jane, have channeled their grief into preserving their sons' legacy. The couple has been actively supporting USA's special needs hockey program and spearheaded a fundraising effort that brought in $500,000 to construct an adaptive playground for children with special needs.

The playground, named the Gaudreau Brothers' Wings of Hope and Chrysalis Corner Adaptive Playground, opened at the Archbishop Damiano School in Westville, New Jersey this past June.

The Gaudreaus also made the emotional decision to attend the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy earlier this year, reportedly nearly skipping the event due to their ongoing grief before ultimately choosing to honor their sons' memory by attending.

Higgins, who was charged shortly after the August 2024 incident, remains in a New Jersey jail after being denied bail. His trial has not yet been scheduled.
