But an offer NEVER came…

This will be brutal for Philadelphia Flyers fans to hear. But this is what happened.
There were many rumours that the most coveted forward on the market, Johnny Gaudreau was dreaming of getting an offer by the Flyers. Elliotte Friedman confirmed it on Friday during his 32 Thoughts podcast on Sportsnet, revealing how the star forward wanted to join the Flyers, but the insider was informed that Philadelphia was never in the mix. Gaudreau refused to believe it and waited to sign elsewhere when an offer didn’t come…
Friedman also believes only three teams made offers to Gaudreau: the Calgary Flames, New Jersey Devils and the Jackets.
The Flyers made some moves on Wednesday, signing free agent forward Nicolas Deslauriers to a four-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $1.75M. The team also added free agent defenseman Justin Braun to a one-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of 1.75M.
GM Chuck Fletcher went on to admit during a press conference that that the Flyers were never in the mix to sign Gaudreau, saying it would have been too much work.
Fans could not believe it : The guy wants to play for you and you’re not even going to make an effort to get him! Fans on social media are terribly upset and we get why.
And know to know that he still waited around for an offer but then chose to sign with Columbus has to be hard to swallow.
The Flyers now have $1.7M available on their cap space, and we all know it’s too little too late for Gaudreau who’s done waiting.
