Josh Morrissey injured in collision with Mikko Rantanen.
Josh Morrissey injured by Mikko Rantanen in Game 6 with the season on the line.
A horrible break for the Winnipeg Jets here.
It looks as though the Jets have lost the services of veteran defenseman Josh Morrissey for the remainder of Game 6 and perhaps even well beyond that given just how bad this one looked.
Morrissey was injured in the second period of Game 6 after he came out on the wrong end of a collision with Stars forward Mikko Rantanen along the boards.
It was Rantanen who was the first to fall as the two men got tangled up, but as Rantanen fell back he dragged Morrissey down to the ice with him and that is where disaster would occur for the Jets. As Rantanen fell back, his body weight appeared to fall completely on the left leg of Morrissey.
Morrissey's leg would buckle under the pressure of Rantanen's body and it did not bend in a way that the human body normally bends, indicating to me that this might be a serious injury. Another sign that this was not a typical injury was Morrissey's body language, with the Jets defenseman looking like he was in serious distress on his way back to the bench and even worse than that once he finally got to the bench,
Morrissey was unable to walk to the Jets locker room on his own and quite literally had to be carried into the back for medical assistance.
