JT Miller calls out Rangers fans for "Booing Again"

I was saying Boo-urns..

The New York Rangers lost another heartbreaking decision last night in a season full of heartbreak.

The Rangers were down 3-0 and came back to tie the game 3-3, only to lose 5-4 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Rangers now fall to last place in the NHL's Eastern Conference and are essentially cooked as far as the playoffs go.

With the NHL's trade deadline coming up on Friday, all eyes are on Rangers GM Chris Drury to offload veteran talent in an effort to kickstart a rebuild. There are though, of course, some untouchables on Drury's roster and some players who seemingly are just un-tradeable. Superstar goaltender Igor Shesterkin isn't going to be traded. He's simply too valuable to the team moving forward. Captain JT Miller isn't going to be traded either, but for entirely different reasons than Shesterkin.

Miller's in just the third year of an eight year contract that pays him $8 million annually and he has woefully underperformed for the Rangers this season, both in terms of production and as the team's captain. It's fair to say that Miller is one of the more divisive captains in Rangers history amongst the team's fanbase. And comments like the ones he made last night aren't likely to endear him to the Blueshirts' faithful.

After the game Miller kind of blamed Rangers fans for their role in the team's loss.

"Momentum shifted in the 2nd period. We had a great start, drew a penalty... then all of a sudden they're booing again and it's hard. It's a rollercoaster of emotions sometimes... it's kind of demoralizing when you do all the right things."

Oof... I get what Miller is trying to say here but that quote is not going to go over well. The Rangers fanbase want a leader to step up and call out the team's poor play, not make excuses for themselves and talk about the fans booing.

What are your thoughts, Rangers fans? Should Miller be this team's captain next season?
