Rangers captain goes down after being hit by 2 Flyers.
The New York Rangers may have lost their captain for the holidays.
On Saturday, during a game between the Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, Rangers captain J.T. Miller would leave the game roughly midway through the game's third period after being involved in a collision with a pair of Flyers players.
Miller was skating up the ice with just over 9 minutes left to go on the game clock, doing so in an attempt to retrieve a loose puck in the neutral zone, when he was dropped by a reverse hit from Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler. To make matters worse, as Miller was coming down the back of his head appeared to strike the knee of Flyers forward Owen Tippett, who was skating up the ice with his head turned back the other way. The contact from Tippett was clearly accidental, with Tippett looking back for the puck that had just whizzed past him.
The end result was a situation that looked like something of a car crash on the ice:
Unfortunately things are not looking good for Miller with head coach Mike Sullivan confirming that his captain is being evaluated for an upper body injury. Miller did not look to be in good shape as he left the ice, being guided and supported by a trainer on his way out, and did not return to the game after making his exit.
