After a shocking 3-0 loss to the league-worst Canucks at MSG, Miller didn’t hold back when asked about his team’s struggles.
On Tuesday night, the league-worst Vancouver Canucks defeated the New York Rangers 3-0 at the Madison Square Garden. Not a shocker since New York is 4-10-3 at home, but no one expected the Canucks, who had won only three of its previous 12 games, would come out on top with the decisive win.
After the loss, captain J.T. Miller was asked about his level of concern for his team’s performance, especially at home. And Miller had quite the answer, per Mollie Walker:
“I’m not concerned, I’m just pissed off. You feel like you work so hard and you make a lot of plays and a lot of nights, I feel like we’re out playing the other team. And we end up in here pissed because we didn’t score enough goals. It’s a fine line.”
New York was blanked on home ice for the sixth time this season. To make things worse, the Blue Shirts’ power-play has been basically non existant and failed to convert on four chances last night. It’s quite bad ever since defenseman Adam Fox was injured against Tampa Bay on Nov. 29.
I guess this all adds to the frustration. Or, as Miller put it, being pissed off at this point in the season.
The Rangers’ struggles at home keep piling up, and if you were hoping for patience or excuses from the team’s leaders, think again. Miller’s frustration sums it up: they’re tired of falling short and they’re done sugarcoating it. With the season slipping further, fans and players alike are left asking the same question: how long before New York finally turns things around?
