Julie Petry publicly calls out fans harassing her family.

Is this why the Petrys want out?

There have been a ton of rumors surrounding the situation between the Montreal Canadiens and one of their players, veteran defenseman Jeff Petry. There's a belief that Petry wants out of Montreal and many have been quick to point to his wife as one of the major factors behind that desire, with Julie Petry publicly announcing earlier this month that her and her children would remain in the state of Michigan despite her husband playing in Montreal.

Although she did not give a specific reason, citing the health and well being of her family, Julie Petry has been a vocal critic of the Covid-19 measures implemented in the province of Quebec and in the country of Canada as a whole and I strongly suspect this was the motivation for her decision to remain in the United States.

Sadly another factor that may have come into play however is the treatment that her and her family have received during their time in Quebec while her husband plays for the Montreal Canadiens. On Sunday Julie Petry shared a story on her Instagram where she publicly called out fans for harassing her and her family, even going so far as to publicly shame one of the fans who dragged her family into it.

Julie Petry claims that this is one of the tamer messages she received, but as you can see in the screenshot below the person who decided to criticize both her and her husband thought it was perfectly reasonable to mention her kids, all because they aren't happy with how her husband is playing.

Since Julie Petry mentions that this is only one example I decided to do a very quick search for her name on social media. The results were disappointing with several examples of fans in Canada directing vitriol in her direction for public statements she has made recently in support of the trucker convoy currently protesting in Canada's capital city of Ottawa, Ontario.

Here are just a few examples:

Even a writer for Montreal's largest English newspaper decided to pile on to Julie Petry, throwing a jab at Carey Price's wife Angela in therefor good measure as well.

Unfortunately as human beings negative experiences tend to stick with us more than the positive ones, but I am happy to report that many, many fans of the Montreal Canadiens were also quick to express their disgust at how some other fans were treating her.

Earlier last year I covered a story where Julie Petry also claimed that she had been the victim of anti-English discrimination during her time in Montreal. Julie Petry claimed that, because she could not speak French, she had been mistreated by an employee while shopping for groceries at Costco.

After all of this, no one should be surprised at the fact that Jeff Petry may very well want his time as a defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens to come to an end.
