Former National Hockey League forward Mike Ribeiro has been acquitted by a jury of his peers.

According to a report from the Dallas Morning News, Ribeiro was acquitted on two counts of sexual assault on Friday after three women made very serious allegations against him stemming from an incident in 2021.

Ribeiro was acquitted on 2 of the 3 charges he was facing, while State District Judge Eddie Northcutt declared a mistrial when it comes to the third trial with the jury unable to reach a unanimous verdict in spite of several hours of deliberation.

It is currently unclear if Ribeiro will be retried in regards to that third charge.

Ribeiro's attorney declined to offer comment after the ruling was made on Friday. No doubt both he and Ribeiro will be happy to put this ordeal in the rear view mirror.

Ribeiro is a veteran of over 1000 NHL games having previously played for the Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, Phoenix Coyotes and Nashville Predators.
