The Toronto Maple Leafs appear on the verge of adding some much needed grit and muscle.

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Leafs are expected to announce a multi-year contract for Ryan Reaves tomorrow at the start of the NHL's free agency period, and that the official deal will be made public in the afternoon.

It wasn't long ago the NHL Insider Elliott Friedman noted that new Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is looking to "beef up" his team, and that Reaves would be the ideal fit.

"I think that’s possible if he does not sign in Minnesota," Friedman wrote. The Maple Leafs are looking to beef up their bottom six. Reaves and Austin Watson are possibilities. Maybe Miles Wood, too, depending on what he’s looking for."

Reaves is coming off a one year, $1.75 million deal that he signed with the New York Rangers before being dealt last season to the Minnesota Wild. In 75 games played, he scored nine goals while also adding 10 assists along with 43 PIM. He's also played for the St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Vegas Golden Knights in his career.
