JUST IN: Red Wings release exhibition schedule

As we get set for the upcoming 2023 NHL Draft as well as what will hopefully be a busy offseason for Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman, we're that much closer to next season - and now, we know the dates and opponents of Detroit's exhibition schedule.
Earlier this afternoon, the Red Wings released their official exhibition schedule, which includes matchups against Original 6 rivals. The full dates and opponents are as follows:
- Tuesday, September 26 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
- Thursday, September 28 @ Washington Capitals
- Saturday, September 30 vs. Washington Capitals
- Sunday, October 1 vs. Chicago Blackhawks
- Tuesday, October 3 @ Chicago Blackhawks
- Wednesday, October 4 @ Pittsburgh Penguins
- Friday, October 6 @ Toronto Maple Leafs
- Saturday, October 7 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
This means that in all likelihood, the regular season schedule will begin sometime during the week that starts with Monday, October 9.
