He has a message for the fans.
There's no question about it, Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Justin Holl isn't having his best campaign.
He was also hearing it from the fans during Wednesday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, committing several defensive errors as well as completely losing the puck in the offensive zone while his team was on a power play. And there's no way that he didn't hear the multiple boos raining down on him.
"It's...I don't know. Anyone who has played hockey before knows it didn't look great," he said. "I thought Matthews was going to come up over the top and be an option, and then all of a sudden when you're about to look and pass, he's changing. It's not his fault, just a miscommunication when you want to give the puck back but just give it away."
"Those are easy things to forget, because it happens. It would be a little harder to swallow if I made couple plays that led to disastrous goals, but that sort of stuff happens."
Holl would once again reiterate that mistakes are simply part of the game, and that anyone who has played the sport in the past would know that.
"I heard it for sure, but those are easy things to forget, because if you've played this sport, that stuff happens," he said.
Holl and the Leafs are back in action tomorrow night when they host the red-hot and NHL best Boston Bruins at Scotiabank Arena for a critical Original 6 matchup.
