Kaiden Guhle lucky to be alive after car accident!
The defenseman opened up about the incident in the new Habs’ series:
Earlier this week in Montreal, there was a grand premiere in which the Montreal Canadiens players were involved thanks to a new TV series named “The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens.”
Our colleague from Habsolument Fan attended the premiere and has reported that in the first episode of the series, defenseman Kaiden Guhle is being followed by a reporter and one segment of the show reveals that the blue liner was involved in a car crash this summer.
The camera focused on the top of the window of his car on the driver’s side and we can see that it is completely smashed. Guhle was immediately questioned about the broken glass and admits how he was the victim of a stupid road accident. While he was driving in his car and his window was ajar a few inches, he claims to have received a large rock directly into the top of his window which immediately cracked.
As he recounts the anecdote, Guhle quickly realizes that if his window had been rolled down even an extra inch or two, he could potentially have received this rock straight in the head, which could have had serious consequences, even possibly fatal. You can tell in the segment the defenseman is very grateful and feels lucky to have gotten away unharmed.
Last season was pretty unlucky for the Canadiens in terms of injuries and a full infirmary, and with this scene from the new documentary series, it feels like Guhle could have been the first injured player of this 2024-25 season that hasn’t even started yet.
The series, The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens, will be broadcasted on Crave, starting September 18.
I guess we will found out more about the incident and Guhle’s luck.
Earlier this summer, the Canadiens agreed to terms on a six-year, $33.3 million contract extension with Guhle, who will earn an average annual salary of $5.55 million.
In 70 games played with the Habs in 2023-24, Guhle recorded six goals and 16 assists in addition to serving 56 penalty minutes. He ranked second on the team in blocked shots with 178 and third in average ice time at 20:51. He has registered 40 points in 114 NHL games, and was selected by the Habs in the first round (16th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
