K'Andre Miller calls out his haters for talking s*** after his big win on Sunday night.
The Carolina Hurricanes are officially your 2026 Stanley Cup Champions and the outpouring of emotions from the Hurricanes players since they hoisted hockey's most prestigious trophy has been something to behold.
There have been emotions of every kind from elation, joy, and even a little sadness, but one of the responses that stood out to me the most following the conclusion of Game 6 in the Stanley Cup Final on Sunday night was the response we saw out of Hurricanes defenseman K'Andre Miller.
Speaking after the game, Miller would reveal that he had come into this season with the Hurricanes with a major chip on his shoulder and aiming to prove those who had doubted him in the past wrong.
"100%," said Miller when asked if he had something to prove this season. "I had a lot of people count me out and I had a lot of people talking s***, so yeah I don't know... I can't wait for them to see my ring."
Miller was smiling from ear to ear as he delivered that final remark, as if the realization that he was a Stanley Cup champion was hitting him for the first time all over again. It wasn't all bitterness and venom from Miller in his post-game comments however, with the veteran NHL defenseman expressing a great deal of admiration for those who helped him reach this point.
"I'm happy that I'm a Carolina Hurricane and I get the opportunity to do this again next year," said Miller. "You look at this team and how it's assembled, the coaching staff, even our trainers, everybody was pulling the same way this year and it made it really easy to come to the rink, put a smile on my face and put my best foot forward. A lot of credit to these guys and the organization itself."
It was a terrific interview that provided some unique insights into the mind of Miller and what motivated him this season, motivation that ultimately helped him become a Stanley Cup champion.
