Keefe confirms major lineup changes for the Maple Leafs.
The Maple Leafs make several lineup changes tonight.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off of a big win over the Carolina Hurricanes in what many feel was a playoff-like atmosphere on Friday night. Although the win was a big boost of confidence for the Maple Leafs, it also appears to have come with a cost.
The signs that everything wasn't normal came early on Saturday with the Maple Leafs making a pair of call ups to the main roster, bringing in both forward Brock McCann and goaltender Joseph Woll up from the American Hockey League . Both men will be suiting up tonight as well, with McCann stepping in for the injured Noel Acciari, while Woll will step in for Ilya Samsonov who is both a little banged up and awaiting the birth of his child according to Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe.
Veteran forward Wayne Simmonds will also be suiting up for the Maple Leafs on Saturday night against the Ottawa Senators as the Leafs will go with 12 forwards and 6 defensemen in the Battle of Ontario.
Also sidelined this evening will be defensemen Mark Giordano and Erik Gustafsson, which all in all makes for quite a few changes to the Leafs lineup ahead of the game.
