Kinkaid shows off a new paint job.
For goaltenders around the world the mask is more than just a regular piece of protective equipment and that is especially true when it comes to the elite goaltenders found in the National Hockey League. For many goalies the mask becomes a form of self expression and as a result over the years we have seen many incredible renditions of goalie masks which cover just about every topic you could imagine.
The latest display of this particular quirk revolving around goaltenders comes to us courtesy of recently acquired Boston Bruins goaltender Keith Kinkaid. Kinkaaid, who was signed to a one-year two-way deal when free agency opened up earlier this summer, unveiled his new mask through his social media over the weekend and got a little help from a Hollywood celebrity in order to do so.
Kinkaid's new mask will pay homage to a classic comedy movie from the 90's starring none other than Adam Sandler, I am of course referring to Sandler's Happy Gilmore. The iconic character, who goes from being a failed hockey player to a professional golfer throughout the course of the movie, will be proudly featured on the side of Keith Kindkaid's new mask this season.
It isn't some small tribute to the character of Happy Gilmore either, one side of Kinkaid's mask appears to be entirely dedicated to paying homage to the character with a huge rendition of Sandler wearing a boston Bruins jersey and carrying a yellow/golden stick in his hand plastered on the side of the cage.
The announcement was made through a video that Kinkaid released on his twitter on Saturday, the video shows the new mask spliced between funny moments from the Happy Gilmore movie. You can see that video just below.
