It’s been a long offseason for Edmonton Oilers fans, but with some roster tweaks, a new general manager and a new head coach, there’s reason for optimism once again in Alberta’s capital. Of course, Oilers fans would feel a LOT more optimistic about things though if they knew exactly when superstar Connor McDavid will hit the ice.

McDavid, of course, tore a ligament in his left knee in the final regular season game of the 2018-19 season and has still not recovered fully. It was initially hoped that McDavid would be fully healthy for the beginning of training camp, but that simply hasn’t been the case… until now?

Earlier today Oilers general manager Ken Holland provided Oilers fans and media with an update on his team’s captain and… well it at least provides fans with some hope.

Check it out:

For the record, the Oilers play twice more this week and then do not have a game until Tuesday evening. It’s expected that McDavid will join the team in practices on Saturday and Sunday before determining if he’s healthy enough to play next week.

This begs the question, should the Oilers rush McDavid into the lineup just to play preseason games? Or, are they better off resting their most important player for the start of the regular season? In any case, the decision likely lies with the team’s medical staff and McDavid himself. Stay tuned, Oilers fans.
