The Winter Olympic Games have provided a great deal of excitement for hockey fans so far, but unfortunately things took a darker turn on Friday when a pair of National Hockey League stars were involved in a very unfortunate collision.

The incident occurred during a game between Canada and Switzerland and unfortunately for the Swiss side, this one would come when the game already appeared to be well out of reach. Canada would win this one by a score of 5-1 and it was in the final minutes of that loss that the unfortunate injury to Fiala would occur.

Wilson delivered a hit to Fiala in the Canadian zone and initially it didn't seem like a notable hit at all. Wilson barely bumped Fiala when viewed in the context of some of the hits Wilson is known for delivering to opposing players but, after the initial contact, Wilson would stumble and fall onto Fiala's extended leg. That fall seemed to bring the weight of both players down on Fiala's leg, leaving him down on the ice in a considerable amount of pain.

Here is a look at the replay:

After several long moments, a stretcher was brought out to remove Fiala from the ice.

Reporters on the scene were able to confirm Fiala was taken to hospital as a result of his injuries.

The news for the Swiss side is very bad, with an official announcement already coming out to indicate that Fiala will not play again in this tournament.
