Carolina Hurricanes forward Kevin Labanc must have taken serious exception to a hit delivered to his teammate on Sunday night.

Labanc and his Hurricanes took on the Nashville Predators on Sunday night and it was during the game's third period that things would turn ugly. Predators forward Oasiz Wiesblatt is the one who started the rough stuff when he delivered a hard hit to veteran National Hockey League forward Tyson Jost in front of the Hurricanes bench.

Now I'm not sure why Labanc took exception to this hit in particular, given that Jost bounced right back up to his feet, but it may have something to do with Jost being an established NHL veteran while Wiesblatt is a player that has yet to play in his first NHL game.

Either way Labanc would immediately challenge Wiesblatt to throw down and much to his credit Wiesblatt would respond immediately by throwing his gloves down and getting the show under way. Both men looked to be out of their element here, which is certainly true for Labanc who last had an NHL fight all the way back in 2021, but they both put in a spirited effort as tempers were running hot.

There weren't a ton of big blows landed in this one but both men managed to connect, and credit to the NHL officials on the ice who let this one go for a good minute before breaking them up.
