Kiefer Sherwood had some harsh words to share about Charlie McAvoy.
Boston Bruins star defenseman Charlie McAvoy may have placed a target on his own back after an incident involving a player best known for his physical brand of play in the National Hockey League.
San Jose Sharks forward Kiefer Sherwood recently spoke out about an incident that occurred during this past Thursday's game between the Bruins and Sharks, one in which McAvoy laid a punishing hit on an unsuspecting Sherwood.
Sherwood is clearly unhappy with the hit, feeling that McAvoy targeted his head on the play, but it is also fair to point out that Sherwood himself contributed to his head being the point of contact when he lunged for the puck with his head way down.
"If anyone can attest to being physical — humbly — I know, obviously, you know where you’re aiming for," argued Sherwood as per Sharks reporter Sheng Peng. "There’s a difference between hitting to be physical and hitting to hurt, and I don’t think any of my hits last year were ever to the head."
Sherwood felt that McAvoy had taken liberties with a 'bullshit' hit and went on to describe it as "dirty and unnecessary and just stupid on his part" which are not complaints you typically hear out of Sherwood.
Unfortunately for Sherwood the Bruins and Sharks don't cross paths again this season, so he will either have to wait for a meeting in the Stanley Cup playoffs or until next season to get his chance at revenge on the ice.
