The Kings are kicking the Maple Leafs while they're down.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are having a tough season and that trend continued over the weekend when the Maple Leafs lost a hard fought game to the Los Angeles Kings by a score of 6-7.
Despite the fact that the score was so high, the Maple Leafs were victimized by costly mistakes that wiped multiple goals off the board for their team. This would allow the Kings to remain in the game, eventually taking the victory in overtime.
Following the loss the Kings showed no mercy to the Maple Leafs either, with their social media team adding insult to injury. The Leafs were not only mocked by the Kings for their lack of success this season, but they were mocked for their well documented Stanley Cup drought as well.
"If you are looking for the final score, you can just google the year when the Leafs last won the Stanley Cup," wrote the Kings on social media.
The Leafs of course haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1967 which of course mirrors the 6-7 loss they suffered to the Kings on Saturday night. The Kings message was accompanied by a pair of photos which you can see just below:
A tough pill to swallow for the Maple Leafs but one could argue that this loss was beneficial for the Maple Leafs organization. Should the Kings make the playoffs, the third round pick the Maple Leafs received in the Scott Laughton trade upgrades to a second round pick. The Kings securing two points over the Maple Leafs this weekend has made that a much more realistic possibility.
