Corey Perry made history Tuesday night, skating in his 1,400th career NHL regular-season game as the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-0.

The 40-year-old veteran joined Brent Burns, Alex Ovechkin and his Kings’ teammate Anze Kopitar as the fourth active player to hit the 1,400-game mark. While Ryan Suter has also played in 1,400-plus games, he is currently not signed with an NHL club.

Through eight games in 2025-26, Perry has collected five goals and three assists for eight points. He joined the Kings as a free agent this summer, signing a one-year, $2 million deal in LA after a full season and 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Edmonton Oilers during their Stanley Cup Final run.

The Kings, who are off to a 6-4-4 with 16 points in their first 14 games, are glad to have Perry on board, though it may not look like it from their post on social media, celebrating Perry’s 1,400th game. The team is being called out and criticized by fans for using a picture of Perry’s walk of shame in the poster.

Back in 2020, when Perry played for Dallas, he was ejected just 2:44 into the outdoor game for elbowing Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Ellis, becoming the first player tossed from a Winter Classic. He had to take a long walk back to the dressing room in front of a full stadium.

The Kings placed the image of Perry walking away from the outdoor rink after his ejection in the middle of their celebration poster…

While the fans that hate Perry are loving the interesting choice of image, others find it inappropriate.
