This just in: TSN hockey insider Bob McKenzie reports that Kirby Dach's World Junior Championship tournament is over after sustaining an arm injury in his team's pre-tournament win over Russia. It's also expected that he'll miss some time once the Chicago Blackhawks' season opens on January 13th, as well.

He left the ice immediately and did not return.

Suffice it to say this is the worst possible news for Canada. Dach is not only the team's captain, he's their best player and their only player with NHL experience. The 19 year old former 3rd overall pick was poised to lead a young, but strong Canadian team in their quest for a gold medal repeat. Take him out of the lineup and Canada doesn't have near as strong as a roster. Stay tuned.
