Kovalchuk accidentally reveals Ovechkin’s real age!
Ovi’s new teammate outs his secret…?

For the first time in their careers, Alex Ovechkin and Ilya Kovalchuk shared the ice, playing together in their first game with the Washington Capitals.
That dream was made possible on Monday when the Montreal Canadiens shipped Kovy to the Caps in return for a third round pick.
A dream more than 20 years in the making as Kovalchuk explained on Tuesday, hours before his first game with his buddy.
“Since we were 13 years old,” Kovalchuk said to reporters when asked how long he and Ovechkin have spoken about playing for the same club. “We played together on the national team but never for the same team. Usually, we battle against each other.”
It did not take long for Russian KHL insider Igor Erenko to put out a fun fact: Kovalchuk is 36 years old, while Ovi is 34. That’s according to the papers he provided the NHL before he was drafted though it is believed by many that Oveckin is actually older, possibly 36 as well.
With Kovalchuk answering “since we were 13 years old”, making it seem like they are the same age, Erenko believes Kovy outed Ovi’s secret.
Lost in translation or finally the truth will come out?
In their first game together on Tuesday night, Kovalchuk and Ovechkin got to celebrate a 4-3 shootout win. Kovy did not get his name on the scoresheet while Ovi scored the first goal of the game and the shootout winner.
