Kovalchuk drops two Canucks players on the same shift!

The veteran forward looks good for the trade market!

It seems like veteran forward Ilya Kovalchuk's time with the Los Angeles Kings is coming to an end, however, the guy is surely making the most of it - probably to make sure he is getting noticed on the trade market...

That's right. After the Kings outbid suitors like the Boston Bruins, Vegas Golden Knights and New York Rangers for the former 50 goal scorer, it was reported on Thursday that the Russian sniper is now willing to waive his no trade. Kings insider Dennis Bernstein strongly believes the New York Islanders are actively involved in trying to acquire the former NHL superstar.

Kovalchuk might want more teams to get in the mix so during last night's game, the heavy forward took down two Vancouver Canucks players on the same shift.

As you can see in the video below, in the third period of Thursday's contest, Kovalchuk started things off by delivering a heavy hit on Marcus Granlund at the blue liner as the Russian forward was trying to penetrate the zone. While he lost the puck, he turned right back around and faced young Adam Gaudette, who also went down with a heavy hit from the veteran.

While both Canucks players shook off the hit, it sure seems like there were powerful ones.

Unfortunately for the Kings and Kovalchuk, the Canucks took the 4-3 win, however, we are pretty sure that the latter was noticed by other rival teams on the trade market.

The Kings currently sit in the basement of NHL standings and Kovalchuk’s three year, $18.75 million contract worth $6.25 million per season is looking like a giant noose around the Kings’ neck. Given the direction of the club there’s no doubt that Kings general manager Rob Blake would love to rid himself of Kovalchuk’s contract.

And it might find a taker after all...
