This is absolutely terrifying!
Here's something you don't see every day: An NHL mascot getting bluff charged by a grizzly.
Um... say what?!
Seattle Kraken forward John Hayden was filming a segment with Kraken mascot Buoy in Alaska earlier this offseason when they encountered a couple bears who were very, very interested in Buoy's strange appearance.
The video is, quite frankly, absolutely terrifying.
The guide crew tell Hayden and Buoy that they need to break off filming and move out to relinquish the bear's territory. But before they can leave safely one of the bears bluff charges Buoy, a common tactic that grizzlies employ to scare their prey.
Watch the terrifying video below:
Oh my God... I'm sweating just from watching the video.
As someone who lives in bear country this is my worst nightmare. I come across black bears often, but they're easily scared off. A grizz is completely different. They're the deadliest animals on earth and won't hesitate to mangle you if you think you might threaten their territory. This video could have ended much, much differently.
I can't say I'm a fan of Buoy, but I certainly don't wish him (her?) death by grizz...
