Is the Kris Letang era coming to an end with the Pittsburgh Penguins? It looks as though it very well could be on the horizon based on comments made from a noted broadcaster.
According to Pittsburgh radio host Mark Madden, there was a reported request on Letang’s part to be moved to the Montreal Canadiens, but nothing has come of it so far.
”I heard there were discussions to try to bring Letang to Montreal at Letang’s request, but nothing came of it,” he said during the Breakfast with Benz podcast.
Letang is under contract with the Penguins through 2028 with an AAV of $6.1 million, and on the wrong side of 35 years of age, would be quite difficult to move.
The Montreal native has appeared in 1,087 games with the Penguins, scoring 166 goals and 576 assists. He's also been a crucial member of Pittsburgh's trio of Stanley Cup championships in 2009, 2016 and 2017.
